Baja Adventures exploring Loreto’s wild waters with KÜHL gear

Out in the wild waters of Loreto, we spend our days doing what we love most: exploring, collecting data, and protecting some of the ocean’s most incredible creatures, like our resident bottlenose dolphins near Isla Montserrat.

We at Baja Adventures blend exploration and conservation, inviting participants to become part of a new formula where tourism is truly regenerative. Our expeditions go beyond adventure, each journey combines respectful wildlife observation and data collection, active inclusion of the local community, and a commitment to protecting Baja’s remarkable ecosystems. We empower travelers to adventure with intention, making every trip a driving force for sustainability and a positive impact on both the environment and local culture.

Each day in the field is a unique blend of excitement and challenge, Regina, our wildlife expedition leader, heads out early, scanning the horizon for dolphins, exploring pristine islands, photographing wildlife, and leading us through hours of adventure. Her experience and dedication set the tone for every expedition.

Long days under Loreto’s intense summer sun demand reliable gear, and Regina never heads out without two essentials: her ENDURAWAX™ BUSH HAT and WANDER™ Long Sleeve shirt by KUHL. After hours on the ocean or hiking rugged island trails, she relies on the ENDURAWAX™ BUSH HAT for its wind and water resistance, keeping her covered from the sun and dry from ocean spray. The sweatband’s innovative cooling tech keeps her comfortable and focused, while the maximum UV protection shields her from the harsh rays, letting her lead and explore without worry.

Just as critical, Regina’s KUHL WANDER™ Long Sleeve shirt offers lightweight, stretch-woven comfort with UPF 50+ sun protection. Its mesh ventilation and quick-dry design keep her cool through dockside briefings and long boat rides to Isla Montserrat, while roll-up sleeves and a built-in sunglass cleaner help her stay ready for anything, whether it’s photographing wildlife, collecting research data, or guiding the crew across remote landscapes.

Equally essential is Leopoldo, our founder, who relies on the KÜHL Engineered™ Hoody for fieldwork protection. This long-sleeve hoody is perfect for shielding skin from the sun during long hours outdoors. It wicks away sweat while turning the hottest breeze cool against the skin, making it ideal for enduring the elements during rugged explorations and conservation efforts. Its combination of comfort, protection, and performance helps Leopoldo stay focused and energized throughout each day’s demanding activities.

We’re especially grateful to have gear that lasts through countless journeys, allowing us to consume less by relying on durable, thoughtfully designed technical apparel. This is equipment made for adventure, built to travel the roads less traveled and support the work we do in wild, remote places.

But beneath the thrill lies a simple truth: fieldwork in Loreto’s summer isn’t for the faint of heart. When you’re out for hours, staying hydrated and fueled is only part of the equation, the right clothing makes the journey possible and comfortable. Thanks to KUHL’s thoughtfully engineered apparel, we stay focused on our mission with no worries about overheating, sunburn, or discomfort.

These waters give us so much: adventure, insight, energy, and a sense of purpose. Every dolphin sighting is a reminder of why we do this, and why we must continue to fight for regenerative tourism, conservation, and conscious exploration. Collaborating with brands like KUHL, who share our ethos, empowers us to keep striving for a more sustainable, compassionate world.

Because while adventure is out there for all of us, our planet needs more aware, empathetic humans, communities, and brands to help keep these places, and the species that call them home, thriving. Here’s to more days in the wild, doing what matters, together.
