Explore the underwater world of Loreto Bay National Park on a snorkeling adventure through the islands.

For underwater explorers looking to spend meaningful time in the rich marine desert of the Gulf of California, our Loreto snorkeling adventure offers a deeper connection with the ocean and an introduction to the extraordinary marine life of Baja California.

Rather than following a fixed snorkeling route, we explore the underwater coastlines of Coronados, Carmen, and Danzante Islands, adapting each day to weather, sea conditions, wildlife activity, and the interests and experience of the group.

During the adventure, we typically enjoy 3–5 different snorkeling sessions, exploring a variety of underwater habitats and geological formations. The volcanic and sedimentary geology of the Loreto Islands creates a remarkably diverse underwater landscape, including rocky reefs, underwater walls and canyons, pinnacles, caverns, coves, rocky ledges, and sandy seafloors.

  • Snorkeling Adventure – Itinerary

    • Departure
      Meet at Loreto Marina Dársena and depart in the morning

    • Cruise to Isla Coronados (30–40 min)
      First snorkeling session (30–40 min) in clear, shallow waters
      Light snacks on board after the swim

    • Cruise to Isla Carmen
      Second snorkeling session (30–40 min) at one of our favorite sites, exploring formations and marine life

    • Cruise to Isla Danzante
      Third snorkeling session followed by a relaxed lunch on board

    • Return to Loreto
      Afternoon cruise back, enjoying the coastline and open water

    • Dolphins: Common, bottlenose.

    • Rays and Mobulas: Spotted eagle rays, cownose rays, mobulas munkiana

    • Fishes : angelfish, surgeonfish, butterflyfish, and parrotfish, along with jacks, snappers, and pompano.

    • Tijuana to Loreto: 12 hours 30 minutes (693.4 miles).

    Other Options:

    You can also consider flying into La Paz or Cabo San Lucas airports, which are relatively close to Loreto.
